The psychosis area in Malmö aims to provide effective psychosis care with a respectful approach to enable a good life. Our mission within outpatient and inpatient care is to assess, investigate, diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate patients with diagnoses such as schizophrenia, delusional symptoms, schizoaffective syndromes, and any conditions where psychosis development is suspected. We offer psychiatric interventions for individuals with psychosis issues, based on a holistic view of mental health that combines medical, psychological, and social interventions. The psychosis area consists of four outpatient clinics and three units providing inpatient care. Ward 87 is an inpatient ward with 14 beds for patients with psychotic disorders and disabilities, as well as first-time psychosis patients.

We are transitioning to the title of nursing assistant and will gradually phase out the title of caregiver across all our psychiatric services. This process started on November 1, 2023. The change in title will not alter the need for specialist competence within psychiatry. Specialist competence remains very important and will continue to be developed. Within the administration, work has begun to review what is needed for continued professional development, increased professional knowledge, and development opportunities related to patient work.

We are looking for you who are a trained nursing assistant and have applied/received proof of protected professional title from the National Board of Health and Welfare.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We now welcome a caregiver/nursing assistant in psychiatry to us at Ward 87!

In your role, you will work closely with patients on various care tasks. Your duties include participating in the routines surrounding care, conversations, and support for patients. We also conduct home visits, study visits, and assist with matters important to the patient. As a contact person, you will participate in planning the patient's care and discharge, which involves collaboration with outpatient care and the municipality. Documentation is done in the Melior data system according to the VIPS model.

We work according to a schedule where working hours are allocated to days, evenings, and every other weekend.

QUALIFICATIONS

You who apply are a trained nursing assistant through the three-year upper secondary school health and care program (2500 points), the Health and Care program at adult education, three semesters (minimum 1350 points), or another equivalent nursing assistant education. Since the work largely involves communication and documentation, it is a requirement that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written. In addition to education, we would like you to have experience working as a caregiver and/or nursing assistant. Experience working in psychiatry and/or with patients with mental health issues is an advantage. Good computer skills and basic knowledge of our journal system Melior are also considered advantageous.

Please attach your nursing assistant certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare if you have received it or your diploma with your application. If you have not yet received the certificate, you will be given the title of care assistant in psychiatry pending.

You have a genuine interest in psychiatric care and always put the patient first. As a person, you are secure and stable, as it is important that you can remain calm and have a low-arousal approach in stressful situations. With a high sense of service and responsibility, as well as good collaboration skills, you humbly meet the situation that the patient and their relatives are facing. You have good prioritization skills and also contribute to a good working environment. We are keen to find the right person and therefore place great emphasis on personal suitability.

As of July 1, 2023, the title of nursing assistant became a protected professional title. This means that you will need proof from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title of nursing assistant in health and care. If you currently have a permanent position as a nursing assistant and are offered a new position, you can retain your title of nursing assistant until June 30, 2033. At any interview/employment, you need to be able to present proof of protected professional title from the National Board of Health and Welfare or a certificate that you were permanently employed on July 1, 2023. If you do not have a professional certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare or are covered by transitional provisions, it means that the title in your employment contract will be care assistant and not nursing assistant.
